AND...The REASON the SOX never gave him a shot post playing career? He had a very nasty, bitter disposition! I experienced it first-hand in RED SOX Fantasy Camp, Winter Haven, Fla February, 1987.

He refused to "hang" with "campers" paying upwards to $3,000 a WEEK (in 1987), He would stay holed up in his room for nightly activities. He made fun of me and other campers for embarrassing swings' and missed catches. THAT'S why!

NEW Release: BUDDY GUY! Rhythm & Blues'

Buddy Guy-Rhythm & Blues 7/9/13

Legendary Bluesman Buddy Guy is back with a two disc CD set. Disc One entitled RHYTHM engages a brass sound with an accomplished horn section to compliment the riffing guitar! Buddy enlists friends on disc One including KID Rock on cut 4, Messin' With The Kid. It is a jamming effort with Michigan's favorite rebel son' sharing the vocals.
Cut 6, One Day Away, is slow with a country flavor featuring genre superstar KEITH Urban. This song is not one of my favorites.

I favor toe-tapping, air-guitar riffing Blues and cut 7 answers the call. Well I Done Got Over reminds me of a big orchestral blues arrangement fronted by Jake and Elwood Blues on stage in the famous movie. This track features a rockin' blues guitar with a high-powered horn section!

Cut 10: Whiskey Ghost is a very cool, howling and seductive effort on behalf of the bluesman! LOVE the feel and the raw emotion from the vocals coming from this one!

DISC ONE: B+

Disc Two is my runaway favorite of this release! Entitled BLUES, The legend enlists more friends and starts shredding away to the delight of his listeners.

Cut 2: Too Damn Bad, sings of a relationship gone bad AND(singing) he'd like to help her" BUT too damn Bad!"
LOVE the feel of this Rockin' groovin' Blues!

Cut 3: Evil Twin features Steven Tyler, Joe Perry and Brad Whitford. Guy and Tyler share vocals and the guitar action is second to none! GREAT effort on this slower yet vampy, cool number.

Cut 5: Never Gonna Change. My absolute favorite selection on disc 2. I LOVE the honky tonk' tempo and feel. The play between keyboard and guitar makes this baby sing to my inner self for sure!

Cut 8: Blues Don't Care. Rising star Gary Clark Jr., a recent guest of the Rolling Stones on stage in Boston helped bring this toe-tapper home. The song features a great tempo and the back and forth vocals between Guy and Junior was appealing. A cool song.

Cut 9: I Came Up Hard. My second favorite track on disc 2. Very Bluesy telling the life story of the writer as the Blues is supposed to do. BUDDY grew up hard. He came from "nuthin" and he transfers the exact mood and feel of those experiences to the listener in song. Great licks on this cut which no doubt make my air guitar arms tired!

DISC TWO: A

Summary: Whether air-guitar or drivin' fast somewhere, anywhere..Rhythm And Blues by Buddy Guy is a keeper!
Time to crank it on my way home, just Buddy and me and my funny looking air guitar steering wheel..

HEART Jason Bonham Led Zeppelin Experience Review

HEART Heartbreaker Tour 2013 Review 7/3/13

One of the MOST exciting concert experiences I have ever had in 35+ years of attending them!

This night was filled with all kinds of surprises, in and around, before and during the performance!

OPENING ACT: Jason Bonham, son of the legendary John Bonzo' Bonham resurrecting the skill, power and prowess of dad. Jason even looked up and called Dad away from his "jamming with Keith Moon" for participation.
JASON BONHAM & The LED ZEPPELIN EXPERIENCE kicked off at 8pm with a surging version of ROCK N ROLL from Led Zeppelin IV. WOW! One Zeppelin power chord after another! BLACK DOG, HOUSES OF THE HOLY and calling up to dear ol' dad for help on WHEN THE LEVEE BREAKS! The hairs on my back stood up!
Another WOW' here, please....
Jason's Band is an exact reincarnation of prime era ZEPPELIN, When Robert Plant had long curley locks and vocal prowess (OK, the current lead singer is bald with a beard) BUT..The vocal tone and sensation was exact and brought everyone back in the time machine! A++++

HEART:  The ageless, beautiful ladies of HEART proved why they are 2013 Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame inductees. In fact, they have been proving it since 1976!

Tearing open the main course with the legendary chords of BARRACUDA was powerful! What a way to kick off the show! A+

One of my all time favorite Heart classics HEARTLESS, From 1978's Dog And Butterfly was a personal treat, especially coming out of Barracuda as the second selection of the night. The ladies are just musical artist genius' who reached deep down for the greatest emotions for their songs to shine. Both Ann and Nancy Wilson spoke to us directly backstage to say how much they loved what they do' and were glad we all came to hear it! They are definitely classy ladies with top of the line musical and vocal abilities to bring it home!  KICK IT OUT and EVEN IT UP continued to bring me back to my late 70's youth. Keyboardist Debbie Shair added a cool flair with her syncopated tick-tock clock intro on DOG AND BUTTERFLY! They nailed it! Emotional! I remember playing the grooves off that album back in 1978. (Grooves are audio recordings pressed into vinyl plastic records back in the day).. They closed the HEART portion of the headlining performance with the hit CRAZY ON YOU It was truly a time machine kind of night for this 'kid"..A++

TWO ENCORES: It began with Nancy announcing into the microphone: "OK, it's time for the Led Zeppelin part of our show, AND we'd like to welcome back to the stage, Mr. Jason Bonham." The 20,000 plus in attendance prepared for the roof of The Susquehanna Bank Center to be blown clear off!

THE BATTLE OF EVERMORE was first..Roof vibrations began! THE SONG REMAINS THE SAME Into THE RAIN SONG sent the most die hard ZEP' fans into a frenzy! THE OCEAN followed then....I stood up..and teared' up for the amazing, bone-chilling, hair on my back raising anthems KASHMIR into STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN!

STAIRWAY' led by Ann Wilson's powerful vocal and bravado gift' from God closed the show to a massive audience sing-a-long. It has to be the BEST encore performance and finale that I have ever witnessed! A+++++

THANKS to Live Nation concerts, Michael, Rich, Kathy, Cody and Joe for making it a lifetime experience!

OVERALL: A++
