It looks like Clarence Clemons is on the road to recovery after suffering a massive stroke over the weekend. Bruce Springsteen‘s mainstay saxophonist is reportedly responsive, and “miracles are happening” for the beloved member of the legendary E Street Band.

A close friend told Backstreets.com — a dedicated fan site to the Bruce and the E Street Band — that Clarence’s condition has improved.

After hearing the news that Clarence Clemons from the E Street Band had suffered a stroke, celebs like Lady Gaga and fans all over are pouring in with their support, the latest coming directly from “The Boss,” Bruce Springsteen.

Rock's Reigning Queen Suffering From Pneumonia

For Immediate Release – (Philadelphia, PA – May 4, 2011 ) – Stevie Nicks, whose highly anticipated new CD "In Your Dreams" - released yesterday, May 3, has had to cancel her Borgata Resort Hotel concert Friday, May 6 and several other appearances on the east coast due to coming down with pneumonia and the flu. Her doctor informed her over the weekend that she needed to "stay in bed and not fly" until she gets better. DETROIT – Kid Rock has posted an expletive-laden message on his website, defending his decision to perform as scheduled Wednesday night in snowy Arkansas.

Some fans who were unwilling or unable to brave ice- and snow-covered roads to get to Verizon Arena in North Little Rock, Ark., had voiced their displeasure on Rock's website.

The Detroit musician told fans that if they purchased tickets to the show and couldn't make it, "YOU WILL BE GETTING A REFUND, STRAIGHT OUT OF MY POCKET."

Rock said he's "never ripped any of my fans off" and never missed a show.

He also responded with profanity to people who he said accused him of being "greedy" for deciding to go forward with the performance. Rock said many fans drove in poor weather to make the show, as did he and his band.

"It's not easy to tour in these conditions and also be stuck on the road with a teenage son at home and in high school," he wrote. "I make alot of money, no question, but i've never ripped anyone off to do it."

The concert went ahead after a winter storm dropped 2 feet of snow on parts of Arkansas and Oklahoma and three people died in two crashes on an interstate.

Verizon Arena had announced earlier Wednesday that the concert would go on as a scheduled. The arena's general manager, Michael Marion, did not immediately respond to messages left seeking comment Thursday.

Stacy Smith, 36, of Booneville, Ark., and three companions had tickets to the show, but thought better of making the drive, which would have taken them two hours on a normal day.

"We heard they were closing some roads between here and there and were afraid that we might get halfway there and not be able to go on," she said. "We were also afraid of not being able to get back home again, and we have kids that depend on us to get home safely."

Smith posted her disappointment in missing the show in a message on the social networking site Facebook but said she doesn't blame Rock for going ahead with it.

"I think Kid Rock did the right thing by going on with the show," said Smith, a rural carrier with the U.S. Postal Service. "His fans paid for him to show up and perform, and that's what he did. . . . I just hope that all of the negative comments doesn't keep him from coming back to Little Rock.

"I will buy tickets to his next show, and hopefully Mother Nature will be a kinder to us."

KENNY Wayne Shepherd stole the show at the Jimi Hendrix Experience Tribute concert Saturday night at Caesars! KWS, one of several big name axmen in the 2010 lineup, engaged the audience with a blistering 12-15 minute version of the Hendrix classic Voodoo Chile. Making it extra special is the guitar he was jamming on(ABOVE)..It was the original Stratocaster used by Hendrix himself on stage at Woodstock, 1969 to play the Star Spangled Banner! On this night, Kenny and his longtime lead vocalist, Noah Hunt provided the fireworks and chills! Corey Glover and Living Colour came out rockin' with Crosstown Traffic. Glover himself came into the audience with the cordless microphone to engage us AND it was spectacular! Original Jimi Hendrix bassist Billy Cox opened the show with a very cool version of STONE FREE, one of my all time favorites! He was cool on bass and was a powerful vocalist. Hendrix protege' from the early 60's, Ernie Isley opened with Cox. He would tell the story that as an 11 year old kid, Jimi came to live with his family. As young Ernie was studying social studies for his homework one night in his bedroom, he heard his first ever guitar riff coming from the dining room, only a few feet away. "Let's just say I learned some things," he would tell us. He provided some high-powered, over the shoulder, behind the back and down by his knees Hendrix theatrics. WOW!

WOW..hold on..let me think..WOW! No wait, how can I describe the full magnitude of Roger Waters in concert Monday November 8th: WOW!

In my 30+ years in the radio business and 35 years of seeing "everyone" in concert, Roger Water's performance of THE WALL was technically AND artistically the most unbelievable performance in entertainment I've EVER witnessed. Having never been a Pink Floyd fan, dating back to my teenage years, I would never have considered going to this 30th Anniversary of THE WALL concert event. Then, I received an urgent call at home a week ago from the lead promoter. Message: Steve, call me ASAP-Roger Waters, call me on my cell. I called. His number was changed. Frantically, I called the next morning from my office Rolodex. "NO tickets for radio promotion BUT I want you to join us pre-SHOW for a private media cocktail party and ticket to see the show. THEN, I need you to go on-air the next day to hype GREAT tickets still on sale for Roger Waters 11/9-11/11 performances!" DONE deal. The Review:

JIMI'S MUSIC PERFORMED IN CONCERT BY ALL-STAR LINE-UP RELAUNCHES THIS MONTH

It has been announced that the line-up of performers slated to play this fall's unprecedented second leg Experience Hendrix tour will include Brad Whitford. The Aerosmith guitar great played his first Experience Hendrix tour dates in 2008 and was part of the EH line-up for dates played earlier this year. Whitford has has been an integral part of Aerosmith for the past 39 years and, like the previously announced Experience Hendrix players, has a strong affinity for the musical legacy of Jimi Hendrix as well as a very personal connection to it. "I got to see Hendrix play in '68 in Boston Garden with Mitch and Noel Redding and it was like, 'Wow.' I bought a Fender guitar the very next day," he recalls.

For the forthcoming dates that start October 26 in Pittsburgh, Whitford is joining a line-up of iconic musicians including Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Susan Tedeschi, Robert Randolph, Jonny Lang, Steve Vai, Los Lobos’ David Hidalgo and Cesar Rosas, Eric Johnson, Ernie Isley, Living Colour, Mato Nanji of Indigenous, Chris Layton of Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble and The Slide Brothers a/k/a Chuck and Darick Campbell of Sacred Steel. "Since the first time I heard him, and right up until today, [Hendrix] has been an important influence on me -- on all of us," Whitford noted.

The new run of dates for Experience Hendrix, the continuing concert tour that has wowed audiences revisiting the music and inspiration of Jimi Hendrix is the first time the tour will have gone out twice within a single calendar year. The Experience Hendrix tour crisscrossed the country this past March for a string of sold-out concerts and returns with a new set of U.S. and -- for the first time -- Canadian dates this month and next. Fender Musical Instruments Corp. is the tour’s lead sponsor as was the case with last spring’s Experience Hendrix tour. Participating sponsors also include Dunlop Effects Pedals, Marshall Amplifiers and Mapex Drums. Jimi Hendrix was indicted in Fender's Hall of Fame this past August with EH Tour member Kenny Wayne Shepherd performing at the event held near Fender's headquarters in Tempe , AZ.

In terms of format, the tour offers multiple opportunities for performers and audiences to witness unique collaborations such as Steve Vai performing with Living Colour, as well as the tour’s artists performing their favorite Hendrix signature songs including “Little Wing,” “Fire,” “Purple Haze,” “Voodoo Child (Slight Return),” “Crosstown Traffic” and many others. As has been the case with previous Experience Hendrix outings, special guests are expected to sit in at many of the dates, making the concerts all that much more memorable for both new and veteran Hendrix fans. Past special guests have included Paul Rodgers, Joe Satriani, Hubert Sumlin, Buddy Guy, Carlos Santana, Robby Krieger and others.

Anchoring the tour is Billy Cox, the legendary bassist whose relationship with Jim Hendrix and his music dates back to the early 1960s when the two met while serving in the U.S. Army’s 101^st Airborne Division. The two bonded over their love of music and would later work together backing R&B acts on the “chitlin’ circuit.” They reunited when Cox was recruited to be part of the Jimi Hendrix Band of Gypsys as well as the ultimate iteration of the Jimi Hendrix Experience, performing at such landmark festivals as Woodstock and the Isle of Wight . Cox, who has been part of all previous Experience Hendrix tours, notes, "It's always a great thrill and honor for me to play Jimi's music for audiences now just as it was in the 1960s. The Experience Hendrix tours have shown how timeless this music really is and is just wonderful that we’ve continued to get an infusion of new, very enthusiastic artists to participate and are able to offer the most wide-ranging Jimi Hendrix-related repertoire possible."

Larry Rodgers of the Arizona Republic echoed Cox’s thoughts in his rave review of one of this year’s earlier Experience Hendrix shows, “It was encouraging to see fans of all ages, from teens to baby boomers who witnessed Hendrix's career launch firsthand, in the Mesa crowd. The show and that crowd made it clear that Hendrix's magical music will never die.”

Kenny Wayne Shepherd, a veteran of several Experience Hendrix tours remarked, “Jimi Hendrix’s music has really inspired me to push the limits of my own music. He didn’t observe any boundaries musically. He was an amazing player and a tremendous showman so I incorporated some of his showmanship in what I do.” As far as having been part of the Experience Hendrix touring phenomenon, Shepherd noted, “It touches you on the inside and gets you fired up.”

The Experience Hendrix Tour is presented by Experience Hendrix, LLC, the Hendrix family-owned company founded by James A. “Al” Hendrix, Jimi’s father, entrusted with preserving and protecting the legacy of Jimi Hendrix. Earlier this year, Sony Music Entertainment’s Legacy Division and Experience Hendrix entered into a worldwide catalog licensing venture to make all of Jimi’s extraordinary music, including classic albums, never before heard archive recordings, and filmed concerts available through all forms of media. The initial release from the alliance was Valleys of Neptune bringing Jimi Hendrix back to the upper reaches of album charts throughout the world. The Anti-Defamation League is criticizing what it says is the dark side of Pink Floyd legend Roger Waters, claiming imagery the British rock icon used in his latest tour is anti-Semitic.

Waters, a longtime vocal critic of Israel, takes aim at the Jewish nation's West Bank security fence during a segment of his 2010-2011 "The Wall Live" tour by using imagery associated with stereotypes about Jews and money, ADL officials say.

During Waters' recent performances of "Goodbye Blue Sky," an animated scene has projected images of planes dropping bombs in the shape of Jewish stars of David, followed by dollar signs -- an "outrageous" juxtaposition, according to Abraham Foxman, ADL's national director.

"While he insists that his intent was to criticize Israel's West Bank security fence, the use of such imagery in a concert setting seems to leave the message open to interpretation, and the meaning could easily be misunderstood as a comment about Jews and money," Foxman said in a statement.

"Of course Waters has every right to express his political views about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through his music and stagecraft," Foxman's statement continued. "However, the images he has chosen, when put together in the same sequence, cross a line into anti-Semitism."

..The classic sound of BLUE OYSTER CULT Rocked 100.7 ZXL's Rocktoberfest celebration at the House of Blues, Atlantic City! While the band exploded on the international music scene in 1976 it's amazing that some 34 years later they sound just like "the record!" Frontman and founding leader/songwriter, Eric Bloom (above), was powerful on lead and it was a thrill to actually stand with him off stage right watching the opening act, LIT. Oh, and I whipped out my (phone) camera, held it up and said "smile"(see, he actually did)! Both bands were great, I LOVED being out there on that stage myself to introduce one of my school year heroes and eating alot of their backstage spread, while they were busy rockin' the house on stage! The best experience was riding the escalator down with ZXL contest winners who LOVED the show!
Yes, I played the grooves off Don't Fear The Reaper in high school (grooves as in sound lines on vinyl records if you remember those), AND loved the live show that sounded exactly the same. Thanks to my buddy, stage manager Dave for wiring up my mike and taking care of me as usual and for the nice "hang" with a solid bunch of musicians, true professionals! A GREAT way to spend a Saturday night..

..There's a medical condition called Narcolepsy. It's a condition characterized my bouts of extreme fatigue. This latest release by the FENDER-MASTER "Clapton" should NOT be used as a remedy for a sudden bout especially while driving. As I sampled the latest offering from this Rock icon, I found NO Rock? I love blues cuts and riffs that this man is capable of and found none. If a record company had to offer up a track for radio airplay to sell the new release, I'd go with Track #1: Travelin' Alone or Track #14: Autumn Leaves, by far, the only offerings that resemble "songs." Tracks 2-13 to my ear sound like studio sessions and pieces of music being worked on. GOOD Luck with it and please, not while driving or operating heavy machinery!

Heart's Nancy Wilson Files For Divorce From Cameron Crowe

Rocker and film director have been married for 22 years.

According to People magazine, Wilson filed divorce papers Thursday (September 23) in a Los Angeles County Superior Court. She reportedly cited irreconcilable differences and listed June 15, 2008, as the date of the couple's separation.

Crowe and Wilson were married July 23, 1986. The couple have 10-year-old twin boys, William James Crowe and Curtis Wilson Crowe. Wilson is said to be seeking joint physical and legal custody of the children and has also asked the court for spousal support.

In addition to "Almost Famous" — which is loosely based on Crowe's experiences as an eager 15-year-old writer for Rolling Stone magazine — the talented writer/director is responsible for '80s classics "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" and "Say Anything," as well as "Singles," "Jerry Maguire," "Vanilla Sky" and "Elizabethtown." He is reportedly finishing up an untitled Pearl Jam documentary.

Wilson, a singer/songwriter from the '70s rock band Heart (she sang lead vocals on the band's #1 hit "These Dreams" and on the top-20 hit "Stranded"), is a successful artist in her own right. She had cameos in Crowe's "The Wild Life" as Rick's wife and in "Fast Times," credited as "Beautiful Girl in Corvette," who while at a red light, turns and smiles, then laughs at Brad Hamilton (played by Judge Reinhold), dressed as a pirate.

More recently, Wilson has made a name for herself as a film composer, having composed music for several of Crowe's films including "Jerry Maguire," "Almost Famous," "Vanilla Sky" and "Elizabethtown."

Leonard Skinner, 77, gym teacher and namesake of Lynyrd Skynyrd band, dies

Leonard Skinner, 77, a high school physical education teacher who was the improbable namesake of the rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd, died Sept. 20 at a nursing home in Jacksonville, Fla. He had Alzheimer's disease.

In the late 1960s, Mr. Skinner was the by-the-books basketball coach and gym teacher at his alma mater, Robert E. Lee High School in Jacksonville. He had a reputation as a disciplinarian and was a stickler for personal appearance.

One day, Mr. Skinner sent a smart-aleck student named Ronnie Van Zant to the principal's office because his hair was touching his collar -- a flagrant violation of the school's dress code.

"It was against the school rules," Mr. Skinner -- who had a flattop haircut for most of his life -- told the Florida Times-Union in 2009. "I don't particularly like long hair on men, but again, it wasn't my rule."

Mr. Skinner left the high school in 1969 to become a real estate broker and bar owner and had completely forgotten about the brush with Van Zant until he got a phone call from an out-of-town friend.

Van Zant, who was later suspended from the school for other rules violations, decided to get back at his physical education teacher by renaming "One Percent," his fledgling rock band "Lynyrd Skynyrd."

Shortly after the release of their 1973 album, "(pronounced leh-nerd skin-nerd)," Lynyrd Skynyrd became one of the most in-demand acts of the 1970s, playing such signature hits as "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Free Bird." They played to sprawling crowds at concerts with the Confederate flag as a backdrop -- an homage to their Southern roots.

At first, Mr. Skinner later said, he was peeved at Van Zant for mangling his name and repurposing it for his band's moniker.

Mr. Skinner eventually warmed up to the rockers, and even introduced them at a homecoming concert in Jacksonville. For the group's third album, Mr. Skinner let the band print a picture of his real-estate sign on the inside cover.

For many years, he would get voice mails on his business line from curious Lynyrd Skynyrd fans seeking to speak to the real Leonard Skinner.

"He embraced it," Mr. Skinner's daughter, Susie Moore said in an interview. "As he got older, he mellowed and then he was able to embrace all types of music, really, even country."

Still, in the 2009 interview with the Times-Union, Mr. Skinner said he never developed a taste for Lynyrd Skynyrd's repertoire.

Instead, he made his musical tastes absolutely clear: "I don't like rock 'n' roll music."

He was born Forby Leonard Skinner in Jacksonville on Jan. 11, 1933.

After graduating from Robert E. Lee High School in 1951, Mr. Skinner attended Florida State University, where he was a fraternity brother of Burt Reynolds and a 1957 physical education graduate.

He spent two years in the Army but hated it, his daughter said, because he had to wait in line to get food in the mess hall.

He owned and operated a bar called The Still in Jacksonville, to which he later added his name after the band's surge in popularity. He sold it in the mid-1980s. It is now a topless bar.

Review my personal copy of THE STONES IN EXILE, a remastered DVD of the 1974 Rocumentary. WZXL hosted the one-time big screen release on Thursday September 16th (last night). My ALL-TIME favorite STONES album since I bought the vinyl copy in 1972, this film includes original home movies of the families of the musicians and the overview of the band's exile to the south of France due to a 93% income tax rate in Britain. Babes on the beach, Keith and son Marlon going to the beach in full incognito since nobody in France had ever heard of The ROLLING STONES!!???? Original still shots of the band including producers and photographers and interviews of the players involved made for an awesome narrative! The songs: ALL DOWN THE LINE, ROCKS OFF, TUMBLING DICE, HAPPY, SOUL SURVIVOR and the rest are timeless and on my all time personal hit list forever!

The Hooters were the featured act at the ZXL Margate ROCK Festival 2010.

The bandmates found one and other as far back as 1970 and formed in the late 1970's. 1980, the band would begin a 30 year odyssey of writing, recording, touring AND never allowing their own heads or feet leave the ground. They LOVE their friends AND love their fans even more. They tasted international pop stardom in 1985 with the release of And We Danced. They wrote the song Time After Time, made famous by Cyndi Lauper in the 80's and IF God Was One Of Us' recorded in the mid nineties by Joan Osbourne. To this day they enjoy a rabid following throughout Europe and in Germany in particular. They just returned from Germany and a European summer tour to share with their local fans at the WZXL Margate Rock Festival 2010. The yearly event raises money for Gold Foundation charities locally ($2.7 Mill raised since 1987). WZXL was proud to be associated with a great Sunday night of ROCK and Fireworks attended by an estimateD 10,000 people. Concert Review:

...well, I gave it a try. Listened for as long as I could on my 70 mile commute both ways to the radio ranch. Very melodic, not as crunchy as I need to hear with Ozzy. Let Me Hear You Scream' the first radio hit is the best. Maybe Crucify BUT it takes forever to kick in..DON'T need Ozzy's storytelling..I NEED Zakk Wilde's guitar..Maybe 1/2 star to this critical ear. Really got to wonder how Ozzfest will help matters. I'm thinking NOT too much.

...Just read in the latest issue of Rolling Stone about the forthcoming EXILE ON MAIN STREET remastered release. It features rare tracks from the vault never before heard AND a Keith version of Tumblin' Dice with different lyrics! OR is it Soul Survivor?? Can't wait to hear what's on this. I'll be first in line to buy it! Don Was' produced and is NOT denying that he recruited former Stones guitarist Mick Taylor to record updated riffs for the remix. Taylor left the band in 1974, replaced by Ronnie Wood..EXCITED!!!!

Doug Fieger, frontman of the late 70's pop sensation THE KNACK has died. He suffered with lung and brain cancer. Doug sang lead on My, my, my, my, my Sharona!" GREAT song! It was my first year in professional radio (1979) when that song broke and it was a favorite then and now.

GREAT behind-the-scenes studio work and mixing from the 70's. WOW!
In depth interviews with band members and where the ideas for this legendary concept album came from! This is amazing. Roger Waters playing Money on an acoustic guitar! VERY Bluesy..I Love it!

..Radio done the right way! During the 1960's a series of Pirate radio broadcasts would hit the free airways to reflect what young people wanted to hear..
ROCK N ROLL!

With the British pop explosion picking up steam with The Beatles and Rolling Stones taking center stage, a group of renegade DJ's decided to break away from the strict policies of licensed British broadcast standards and go out on the high seas to rock!

Radio Caroline and sister ships would move off into international waters, seemingly away from the stogy regulators to capture a huge audience and break out a new pop culture. Like anything fun, authorities will see it as a threat and plan an attack to maintain control of the status Quo.
The motion picture PIRATE RADIO represents such a battle against the establishment. To my best assessment, sister ship Ross Revenge was portrayed in the movie as Radio Rock. It would be torpedoed in 1967. Radio Caroline would continue the renegade tradition until November, 1990 when it too would meet it's untimely demise. Other great ships like LAZER 558 would rock the high seas during the 80's and 90's. Good movie! GREAT Soundtrack! I LOVE what I do comes through loud and clear through the characters and events in this flick! I'm lucky I don't ever have to grow up AND can ROCK for a living. I could identify and reflect on my time with this outdated studio equipment, microphones, groupie chicks who didn't care what you looked like and real vinyl records! WOW! Remember them..
